I still clearly remember the moment I learned of Michael Jackson’s passing. It was a Thursday evening, I was at a restaurant with friends who were fans when the news broke. C’était un jeudi soir, j’étais au restaurant avec des amis fans lorsque la nouvelle est tombée.
Mon téléphone recevait des SMS sans arrêt. Je ne comprenais pas.
Like many people, I will never forget that moment. I immediately rushed home to follow the news on television. I watched the news channels all night, without sleeping, hoping until the very end that it was a mistake or that some good news would contradict the initial reports. Unfortunately, as the hours passed, the reality became undeniable.
Today, 17 years later, that date remains etched in our memories. Every June 25 reminds us how exceptional an artist Michael Jackson was, whose legacy continues to inspire and make millions of people around the world dream.
A very rare video for this special occasion: the duet between Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston on “One Day in Your Life” for the 30th Anniversary in 2001 at Madison Square Garden. A performance that was ultimately cancelled at the last minute.
