This music video was directed and produced by French filmmaker David DLR and filmed at Studio 51 in Paris.
I have always followed one rule without exception: I refuse to make a music video for any song that Michael Jackson himself never turned into a video.
“Dirty Diana” is one of the few songs to have received an official music video, which made this project possible. The challenge was simple: to dance in one place and use a few lighting and camera effects throughout the entire song, without any sets.
David DLR’s aim was not to recreate the original music video, but to offer his own personal interpretation while preserving the song’s intensity, elegance, and energy.
You can imagine how long it took to shoot this music video: from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., filming various shots, sometimes without a break.
I truly enjoyed watching this small three-person team, all from the world of cinema, at work.
