I’m here today to announce the launch of a new version of the show, featuring a line-up of six live musicians and two or four additional dancers.
In collaboration with a new production, we are embarking on a series of special performances featuring a fresh take on Michael Jackson’s musical legacy.
The musicians will be performing live throughout, but as for me, I’ll be sticking – as always – to the backing track of Michael Jackson’s solo vocals, as I’ve always done for the reasons you know, accompanied by backing singers.
The reason for choosing the playback is, in fact, explained in detail:
LIP-SYNCING
Lip-syncing is a conscious artistic choice: it ensures a precise, intense dance performance that remains true to Michael Jackson’s world.
Ben Jack’son opts for a flawlessly executed lip-synched performance rather than a live vocal performance, which would be compromised by the demanding choreography — a choice that Michael Jackson himself regularly made on stage. The audience — who are very discerning — thus appreciate hearing Michael Jackson’s real voice.
The first date has been announced for Saturday 27 February at the Casino in Blotzheim (Alsace).
4 – NEW FOR 2027
TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL JACKSON – THE SHOW – featuring LIVE musicians
In 2027, Ben Jack’son is releasing a new live version, in collaboration with Y SHOW PRODUCTION and his musicians.
A 1 hour 10 minute show featuring musicians (guitar, bass, drums and keyboard), backing singers and two dancers.
Y Show Production produces the show "Tribute to Michael Jackson the Show" and provides all the technical sound and lighting equipment required for the show.
Lip-syncing remains a deliberate artistic choice to ensure a dance performance that is precise, intense and true to Michael Jackson’s world. The musicians and backing singers perform entirely live. Only Michael Jackson’s voice is retained a cappella.
The set list will feature tracks from the albums Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous and Invincible.
