I was lucky enough to perform in front of thousands of spectators and share the stage with some of the biggest boy bands of the time
June 1997 – Chassieu: a concert attended by 20,000 people featuring G-Squad
In June 1997, in Chassieu, in front of a crowd of nearly 20,000, on the RMC stage (and thanks to Gérard Sibelle – RMC’s promotion director), I shared the stage with G-Squad, France’s first major boy band.
The band at that time consisted of Chris Keller, Gérald Jean-Laurent, Marlon, Mika and Andrew McCarthy.
At that time, their hits «Raide dingue de toi» and «Aucune fille au monde» were all the rage amongst young fans, and the G-Squad phenomenon was at its peak. I’m still looking for the photo I took backstage with them. I remember them telling me they loved Michael Jackson – they were all big fans of his – just a few days before Michael Jackson’s concert at the Stade de Gerland in Lyon on 25 June. In fact, MJ’s concert was due to take place in Chassieu, at that same huge venue, which could hold more people than the Gerland Stadium.
1998 – Trévoux: a meeting with the British band Ultimate Kaos
The following year, I performed in Trévoux alongside the British band Ultimate Kaos.
The band consists of Haydon Eshun, Jomo Baxter, Ryan Elliott, Nick Grant and Jayde Spence.
True stars of the British pop scene, they went on to score one hit after another with songs such as «Casanova» and «Hoochie Booty».
1999 – Culin (Isère): ‘La Nuit des Vacances’ featuring Alliage in front of 10,000 people
In 1999, I rediscovered the incredible atmosphere of major public events at the ‘Nuit des Vacances’ in Culin, in Isère, organised by Pascal Deny.
In front of nearly 10,000 people, I share the stage with Alliage, one of the most popular French boy bands of the decade.
The band consists of Quentin Elias, Steven Gunnell, Roman Lata Ares and Brian Torres.
Their hits «Baïla», «Lucy» and «Le temps qui court» had a whole generation singing along.
These memories remain etched in my mind. Sharing the stage with these artists and performing in front of tens of thousands of people was a unique experience that has undeniably shaped my career.
