It was 2 December 1994! Having just finished my A-levels, I didn’t know anyone in the industry. I was funding my studies with my student «job»: playing in nightclubs every weekend (sometimes two or three times a weekend).
One day, Frédéric Lopez, who was also a very young journalist at the time (working for France 2 on the programme *Terre Inconnue*), rang me on the home landline to ask me to appear on his programme *La Vie d’Ici*, a talk show on TLM (a Lyon-based channel).
On arrival, I met about 15 lookalikes, who belong to the »lookalike club» of the Queen of England, Mrs Funfrock, who was very well known at the time (films, TV). .
I wasn’t part of her circle – and I never have been – but I must admit that that world intrigued me. I would have liked to have been part of it to give my fledgling career a boost. Unfortunately, she never rang me…
But… But the day after the programme was broadcast, two talent agents asked TLM for my number and rang me at home! One of them was none other than Michel Rostaing, a singer-songwriter and, five years later, Eve Angéli’s manager. Michel managed me for a good four years!
But also Didier L., who sent me to my first works council meetings (NOVOTEL, etc.).
TLM takes me to La Part Dieu, which is a real challenge for me, as it’s very crowded, and I’m surrounded by bodyguards and assistants, plus two cameras (very large, old-fashioned cameras). It’s a nice bit of theatre – they’ve really gone all out for the joke….
I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to Frédéric Lopez for inviting me to sit at this table, opposite him. I didn’t have any dancers at the time. They rang a dance school to arrange for some to join me on set. It was great.
I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in this adventure, including Frédéric Lopez, and all the lookalikes who took part (Sandy Sims, Maryline, Henri Giraud, Coluche, my mates), and of course Michel Rostaing for all the laughs we had on tour.
